Dial Up Settings

These are the settings you will need for 56K dial up internet access with Delaware Valley On Line.

When you signed up for service with DVOL, you were assigned a username and password. These are critical for setting up uyour account.
Please note that usernames and passwords are case sensitive and should be entered exactly as assigned and confirmed by us.

If using dialer software other than that provided by DVOL,or that which is built in to your Windows operating system - "Make A New Connection",you must add @dvol to your username Example:username @dvol

USING DVOL WEB MAIL
WebMail Access: http://www.dvol.com/webmail/
Username: username@dvol.com (your full email address)
    
We offer two versions of web mail, you may use either. Squirrel Mail is for novice users and offers a simple interface to send and receive email. Horde is for advanced users and offers a more robust interface with many more features.

 

WINDOWS 2000 Manual Set Up

Open your Start menu and select "Run", and then type in the word "inetwiz" without the speech marks and click the "OK" button.

This opens the "Welcome to the Network Connection Wizard" page, select the "I want to set up my Internet Connection manually, or I want to connect through a local area Network (LAN)" option and click the "Next" button to continue.

Select the "I connect through a phone line and a modem" option and click the "Next" button to continue.

Type in the Area code and the phone number. Select USA for the "Country/region name and code". Check that the "Use area code and dialing rules" box is ticked. A full list of access numbers may be found above.

Type in your DVOL username in the Username box. Type in your DVOL password in the Password box and click the "Next" button to continue. Your username for making your own dialer must have @dvol realm name attached. In other words, if your username is customer, it must be entered as customer@dvol in this entry box.

Type in DVOL as the "Connection name" and click the "Next" button to continue.Select the "Yes" option to setup your internet mail account and click the "Next" button to continue.

Select the "Create a new Internet mail account" options and click the "Next" button to continue.

Type in the name that you want others to see when you send them email in the "Display Name" field and and click the "Next" button to continue.

On the "Internet E-mail Address" page type in your DVOL email address and click the "Next" button to continue.

On the "E-Mail Server Names" page check that the first line "My incoming mail server is a" reads "POP3".

Type in mail.dvol.com for the Incoming mail server. Type in mail.dvol.com for the Outgoing mail server and click the "Next" button to continue.

On the "Internet Mail Logon" page type in your DVOL username in the "Account Name" field. Type in your DVOL password in the "Password" field. If the password box is greyed out then put a tick in the Remember Password box. If you want to type in a password every time you check your email then leave the Remember Password box unticked.

Click the "Next" button to continue. All done! Put a tick in the box next to "To connect to the Internet immediately, select this box and then click Finish" and click the "Finish" button. If you don't want to connect to the Internet immediately then leave the box unticked and click the "Finish" button. Your PC should now be all ready to connect to the Internet. Be sure to set your home page in your browser to http://www.dvol.com

WINDOWS XP MANUAL SET UP

Select the "Create a new dial up networking connection" option and click the "Next" button to continue.

Type in the Area code and the dial up phone number you wish to use. A full list of access numbers may be found above. Select "USA for the "Country/region name and code". Check that the "Use area code and dialing rules" box is ticked and click the "Next" button to continue.

Type in your DVOL username in the Username box. Type in your DVOL password in the Password box and click the "Next" button to continue.Your username for making your own dialer must have @dvol realm name attached. It must be entered as username@dvol in this entry box.
